Diaconescu doesn’t believe in the chances of a CDR like opposition

The President of the National Christian Democratic Peasant Party (PNTCD) considers that an alliance of the opposition made only on electoral grounds, can’t have a common program. "The electoral reasons are not enough" in order to unite tens of "known or unknown" groups to form an alliance according to the model of the Democratic Convention, the PNTCD president declared Monday. He said that the Romanian Democratic Convention was not created out of a simple electoral necessity, the alliance having a historic precedent in the pact made by Iuliu Maniu with the liberals and the social-democrats against the communists.
