The members of the striking pupils’ delegation who met with the Education Minister Virgil Petrescu announced that they agreed with the minister the following things: the school leaving examination will be given at seven subject matters according to the Education Law of June 28, 1995; the delay in communicating the curriculum and the way of carrying out the school leaving examination will be compensated by a special regulation for the terminal classes of the 1997-1998 promotion; the regulation will be elaborated on October 13 by the ministerial functionaries with all the 41 county general inspectors. There will be also increased the number of absences permitted (only for the terminal classes) and the curriculum and the methodology for the school leaving examination will be officially communicated by October 20, 1997. The examination will be according to the profile of the classes. Yet, Premier Ciorbea mentioned Sunday he will consider the possibility of having the school leaving examination at only four subject matters.
