Romania is waiting for the Swiss investments

Romania is interested in both the direct and portfolio Swiss investments, President Constantinescu said Wednesday. He received at the Cotroceni Palace the secretary of state for economic relations abroad, Franz Blankart.
At the beginning of the meeting President Constantinescu presented the new Romanian legislative and economic framework which favours the foreign investments. Constantinescu also mentioned the rapid and radical economic reform, as well as the existence of an European-like legislation.
Romania wants to build up "serious economic relations" on the basis of good political relations with Switzerland, Constantinescu declared.
Franz Blankart has come to Romania with a group of Swiss businessmen who are prospecting the Romanian market. The Swiss concern Sulzer-Hydro ABB wants to contribute to the modernization of the hydro-electric plant of Portile de Fier, Blankart declared to the press after the meeting. He also mentioned Switzerland’s intention to significantly intensify the political and economic co-operation with Romania.
Franz Blankart also met with the leaderships of the Reform and Finance ministries and of the State Property Fund and the Central Bank of Romania.
