The Finance Minister Mircea Ciumara declared Wednesday for MEDIAFAX that the budget of 1998 will focus on the economic growth, instead on the social protection as it was this year.
Ciumara said that the new conception regarding the budget of 1998 takes into account the future criteria for taxes on he global income. For the finalization of the budget for 1998 Ciumara will also take into account the laws regarding the small and medium enterprises, as well as the development of the troubled regions, such as the Jiu Valley.
The Finance minister said that the deficit of the consolidated budget will be 2.4% of the Gross Domestic Product. Ciumara also mentioned that the budget of 1998 won’t be "more austere" than the one of this year.
Ciumara specified that the ministers demand sums of money five times greater than the state budget. The bill of the budget for 1998 is to be forwarded to the Parliament by the end of October, Ciumara having to consult also the trade union representatives for the finalization of the budget.
