The hunger strikers fold their tent

The Prime Minister Victor Ciorbea declared Wednesday night that "he regrets the desperate gestures of the hunger striking revolutionists." Premier Ciorbea referred to Marin Juganaru who set himself on fire Wednesday morning as a protest against the modification of Law 42/1990. In order to clarify the dispute between the revolutionists and the Government, the ruling coalition leaders and Premier Ciorbea agreed Thursday to propose the striking revolutionists a five points protocol that would solve their problems.
According to the protocol, the Government will ask the Chamber of Deputies to postpone the parliamentary debates on the bill of modifying Law 42, until a special commission analyse all the revolutionists’ files. The protocol stipulates that there will be no more granted any title of revolutionist according to law 42/1990 until the new commission fulfils its activity.
