The opposition criticises the Government’s agricultural policy

The Romanian Social Democracy Party (PDSR), the Romanian National Unity Party (PUNR) and the Great Romania Party (PRM) lodged yesterday in Parliament a simple motion criticising the Government’s agricultural policy. The opposition claims the Government shouldn’t eliminate the subventions for agriculture by reducing the customs taxes for the imported food and by reducing the food reserves.
The opposition also claims that the Government bankrupted the livestock branch, that it increased the unemployment rate in agriculture and that it generates chaos in rural world by returning the lands taken before 1945.
The motion also denounces the "CDR-ization" of the agricultural administrations and the incompetence of the Agriculture Ministry. Therefore the opposition will ask the Executive to present a detailed survey of the fall agricultural works, of the forecast imports of food and of the livestock utilization. It will also ask detailed explanations for the measures the Government is to take for applying the ASAL program.
