 Young spirit of parties

Youth party organizations have undergone an unexpected reinvigoration, lately. After the former opposition’s turn to fail for ruling power came after the parties’ poor staff reserve was seen that it was a real problem, after it was finally proved the parties’ survey departments are filled with theoretically under-trained people, lacking the opportunity sense and strategic imagination, the need for the political class’s renewal has been talked about more and more. The last two months, exactly the time when influential periodicals ruled the idea the current political class has faced a crisis, Romanian parties have revised their policy towards youth organizations. These two months, coalition parties and opposition alike have scheduled the reunion of youth organizations higher authorities. Young Peasant Party members gathered Saturday to talk about the prime minister’s performance, along with domestic party issues. The same Saturday young members of Romania’s Alternative gathered for their first congress, when "The Manifesto of radical change" was introduced. Not a long time ago Democrat Party youth organization assembled for the National Convention, when they elected a new leader. The Liberal Party is about to talk late this week about the way it will coordinate the activity for the next two years. Alliance for Romania youth organization is militating for the renewal of the political class. Even the most inert parties – Social Democracy Party and Great Romania Party often show up for press conferences with their young members.
Reconsidering the attitude towards youth organizations does nothing but highlight their uncertainty. For youth organizations are marked by debility for now. Shadows of senior structures, they are moving with their lack of power and with their uselessness. Regarded with ironic tolerance, youth organizations are considered as staff reserve for the party at most, which can influence the seniors’ decision. For that reason, they are peopled by an army of intruders. The young, intelligent and dynamic young man, easy and without any complex, good at political doctrines and in organization stuff is still a rare presence in politics. Youth organizations leadership are dominated by exotic types, less compatible with professional politics. The dressed up to the nines dude can be seen everywhere. He easily joins the organization because he has something of the refined politician and because his fine virtues are supposed they can serve to campaigns for recruiting members. To this versatile and come-hither coxcomb, politics is a hedonist opportunity. He starts with the conviction the political act is a hormone thing. He is unstable – either arrogant, or extremely kind. A temperance fan, he tells any stupid thing proudly and with a grimace. He scorns the nervy nerd, another common member of youth organizations. Bony, with a little moustache, clumsy, he enjoys sympathy, just because he is cast out. To him, the party can be the gang he didn’t enjoy in childhood – the idea of an organizations gives him some sort of security. He is alarmingly convinced, he tries to turn his final conclusions into policy. Frail like a greenhouse plant, he hates himself because he is not mature and because his sole experience is the bookish one. Between these two types here comes the volunteer plump guy. Propitiatory, spiritual, he impresses with his generosity. Honest, enthusiastic, slightly pathetic, he sins because he takes things too seriously. Youth orgnaizations are also filled with tray bearers, speculators or dreamers, frivolous little girls or housewives, ignorant and initiating technical guys, panic mongering and inert humanists, rockers, militants and proletarians.
This is not the youth’s problems, it is the parties’ problem. As long as senior members maintain the success pattern within the party according to their Narcissistic image, only intruders will express themselves in youth organizations. As long as decision mechanisms exile the youth’s opinion in the area of splendid and useless utopia, parties will be as soft-minded and inefficient. Finally, as long as "the young generation" is a metaphor and demagogy subject and not a political target, tired, inappropriate and irresponsible people will get on our nerves. (Adrian CIOFLANCA)
